About The Tyger
The Tyger is an all day, full service Southeast Asian restaurant at the border of Soho and Chinatown.
The Tyger is a pan-asian restaurant in New York, New York. It is listed at 1 Howard St, New York, NY 10013, which places it among the local businesses of New York that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and New York follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I stumbled upon this place while exploring the area. I was able to get a seat with no wait early on a Saturday. I ordered the oyster, scallop, crab fried rice and dessert. The oysters were delicious and a nice spice. The scallop was also good but very expensive 12 for 1. The crab fried rice was flavorful and had nice crunch on top. The drinks were good. Now what brings this review down was the service and dessert. The dessert was horrible and I couldn't even eat it but no one asked why they didnt ask to replace it or remove it from the bill and it was nasty, the texture and flavor were off idk if that's how it was intended but dont order it. I dont know if I would return here while I enjoyed the food it was overly expensive and the experience wasnt too great to pay that amount when other thai restaurant are a better time.

Cheers! Signature cocktail, tastes of sweet melon and crushed sugar; nice on a warm breezy evening. I can't remember the names of the dishes, I just asked for a taste of Tyger. The first dish was a savory, sweet and sour veggie mix on a crispy chip, a delicious beginning with just enough heat to open the palate. The second dish was steamed in a savory beef broth, veggies like broccolini and leaks sprinkled with peanuts; a nice savory and crunchy course, the broth was so good the best part, we scooped up the veggies from the bottom. The third dish was a savory steak skewer with garlic, Sichuan peppercorns, and ginger with a charred lime; tender and rich with a spiced finish. The fourth fish was udon noodles with mushrooms in a savory mushroom broth; this fish had huge umami flavors, tender but chewy noodles, mushroom forward in taste and texture. The fifth dish was steak with a ginger cilantro salad and coconut rice; the sweet rice and sparkling bright flavors of the salad cut the rich fatty beefy flavors of the tender juicy medium cooked steak. The kids had crispy duck with pineapple and a fried egg. I didn't taste it, iykyk π. They also had fried chicken, crispy coated thighs

Having ate at quite a few Thai spots in NYC, I can say The Tyger had a slightly different take on the Thai Cuisine! They provided all the same flavors I was used to and in some cases, better! The drinks were very good and not too strong. They photo very well, especially The Tyger Strype! My absolute favorite dishes were the Oysters, Pan Roasted Scallops, Crab Fried Rice and Pad See Ew. The Salt and Pepper Snapper IS A MUST if you enjoy seafood. Also, loved the Coconut Bomb and Ice Cream sundae. So rich and creamy!

Tyger is an absolute gem and one of my go-to Thai restaurants. The food is consistently delicious, and I love how the menu evolves with creative and seasonal dishes. Their rotating cocktails are always beautifully balanced and pair perfectly with the food. Standouts include the lobster noodles (when available), the fried snapper, crab fried rice, and gem salad. Iβm also a big fan of the wok beans, house-made noodles, octopus salad, and fried chickenβeach dish full of vibrant flavor and texture. If you have a little room left, donβt skip the tart for dessert; itβs the perfect finish to a wonderful meal. Great food, welcoming energy, and thoughtful details make Tyger a place I always look forward to returning to.
